Introduction : |
Department of Commerce and Management was
established in 1990. Since then, the department is
conducting M. Com., M.Phil and Ph. D. courses. M.
B. A. course has been started from academic year
2004-05. IDBI Banks Late Shri R. N. Godbole Chair
and Bank of India Chair are functioning in the
department and contributing towards the areas of
financial management, rural banking and banking
research. The department has been conducting
various lecture series, memorial lectures and
short-duration add-on courses of contemporary
significance. The department has also broadened
its academic bottom-line by introducing M. C. A.
(Commerce), M. B. A. (Executive) on distance mode,
P. G. Diploma in Banking and Finance and P. G.
Diploma in Treasury and Forex Management.
Vision: To establish a centre for
integrating all facets of commerce and management
to educate and train innovative and competent
manpower globally suitable for industry, business
and service sector and to equip and encourage them
to start their own ventures in urban or rural
areas, benefiting both the classes and masses.
Mission: To secure and deliver knowledge
through teaching, research and extension.
To seek continuous improvement in the quality of
education to remain globally competitive.

Admission/Selection procedure:
The admission to the MCA (Commerce) course is by
entrance examination only. Admissions are given on
the basis of merit of entrance examination and
following the University rules of admission. The
admission will be by round and the information
regarding entrance examination result and the
round of admission will be put up on the Shivaji
University website www.unishivaji.ac.in.
Fees for the Course : As per the rules of the
university.
For foreign students tuition fees is Rs.80,000/-
per year.

Eligibility : M. Com. with minimum 50% marks and
completion of Pre-Ph. D. Course
Admission procedure :
1. Synopsis of the research proposal along with
signature of guide is submitted.
2. The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) in
its meeting will first scrutinise the proposal.
The candidate and his guide are invited to come
before the meeting and make the presentation of
the research proposal. After such presentation,
the DRC may suggest the modification if necessary.
After the scrutiny of the proposal is sent to the
Research and Recognition Committee (RRC) of the
university.
3. The RRC scrutinise the proposal and sends it to
BUTR for approval. (As per university rules)
