“Mitigate the Impact of Fourth Industrial Revolution on Indian Society: Education Reform for Future and In-Service Teachers”
EDUREFORM: context and introduction
The current world is peaking at the emerging wave of a technological revolution which will blur the boundaries of physical, biological, and digital worlds. The fourth industrial revolution in its surge to change the way we work, communicate, and relate to each other will impact all spheres of our lives.
To mitigate the impacts of the fourth industrial revolution on Indian society, there is a need for educational reforms that will help the Indian youth to develop skill sets relevant to the changing market demands. In an effort to mitigate the impacts of the fourth industrial revolution on Indian society, the EDUREFORM project aims to empower secondary school in-service and pre-service teachers so that they can foster critical, creative, and analytical thinking skills among secondary schoolchildren.
The project is funded by Erasmus+ program of the European Union. Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe and partner countries. It has an estimated budget of 1 million € / ₹ 9crore.
The activities of our EDUREFORM project are completely focused on a single objective and a target audience which is: the dissemination of teaching tools to train secondary school students’ creativity, analytical and critical skills.
Broadly speaking, EDUREFORM is a three-year long project which has an ultimate goal to empower Indian pre-service and in-service secondary school teachers to mitigate the expected societal impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. To fulfill its aim, the Indian partners of the EDUREFORM consortium will participate in modifying their B.Ed., M.Ed., and Ph.D. curriculums by integrating in them new pedagogical practices. For doing this, an EDUREFORM Book containing pedagogical tools will be published to guide the teachers in fostering creative, critical and analytical thinking in their classrooms. The Department of Education sanctioned 1 Crore 26 Lakhs under this project.
