Landslide Susceptibility Mapping

A landslide is a natural hazard that is caused by several geophysical and anthropogenic factors. Every year, the Western Ghats of Maharashtra suffer from landslides that are dangerous, occur rapidly, and cause significant damage. Over the last few years, landslide susceptibility assessment has been considered a significant and beneficial approach to predicting the probability of the spatial distribution of landslide occurrence under certain geo-environmental circumstances. Thus, it is valuable to do a landslide susceptibility assessment for landslide disaster risk reduction. Through research, landslide susceptibility mapping will be done using historical landslides and different thematic geo-environmental datasets. In the future, landslide susceptibility mapping will be helpful in identifying areas for the preventive measures and mitigation of present and future landslides for developers and decision-makers.
