The Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies, established at Shivaji University Kolhapur in October 2021, is a pioneering transdisciplinary hub. Comprising faculty members from diverse fields including Geography, Statistics, Environmental Science, Sociology, Physics, Computer Science, and other allied disciplines, the center aims to delve into climate variability, climate change, and their impacts on the local and regional environment. With a primary focus on the southwestern region of Maharashtra, the center is dedicated to enhancing awareness, advocating for action, and conducting comprehensive research on climate change and sustainability issues. Through a blend of research endeavors, discussions, prototype projects, and strategic interventions, the center endeavors to decipher the complexities of climate dynamics and their repercussions on the ecosystem. In line with its mission, the center actively engages in outreach initiatives aimed at educating both the public and policymakers about the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. Through an array of activities including research projects, workshops, informative talks, and internship programs, the center endeavors to foster a deeper understanding of climate-related issues and stimulate proactive measures towards sustainability.
