Event and Programmes (2014 - 2020)

 


Hostel organizes different types of activities for overall development of the girls. These events are categorized as Disciplinary, Skill Development, Personality Development, Health Care Activities, Art and Culture, Career Development, Self Defense, Recreational, General Awareness, Guest Lecture, Day Celebrations, Sport, Festival Celebrations and Other Activities etc. Details of the activities are listed below;

 

Disciplinary Activities:

   
1)    Every year hostel administration organizes ‘Welcome Function’ for the 1st and 2nd year students admitted in the hostel.
       Accommodated students are informed about hostel discipline and facilities in the programme.
2)    Annually Anti Ragging Monitoring Cell and Anti Ragging Squad Committee visit to the hostel to inform about anti-ragging
       rules and regulations.
 
   

 

Skill Development:

    
1)    On the occasion of Hostel Day, every year hostel organizes rangoli, Flower arrangement, Mahenadi, Hair Style
       competetions to enhance the skill among the girls.
2)    Mr. Yashwant Shitole illustrated the various vocational training courses which one can complete along with
       education in the skill development programme.
3)    Skill development programme was organized for the hostel residents. Prof A. M. Guruv and
       Prof. Vasanti Rasamwere the chief guests of the programme.
 

    

Personality Development: 

   
1)    Quiz Competition on general knowledge, Elocution Competition on various emerging topics were organized in the hostel.
2)    Smt. Anima Dahibhate from of Art of Living, Kolhapur has delivered a talk on “Stress Relief and Personality Development”
       and “Health Happiness Program”.
 

 

Health Care Activities:

   
1)    The Art of Living programme was organized for the holistic development of the students to impart stress control techniques of yoga.
        It helps to make daily life more comfortable and stress-free. 
2)    Dr.Veenita Ranade, Medical officer has delivered lecture on “Anemia and Personal Hygiene” and “Personal Health and Hygiene”.
3)    The Swine Flu Vaccine campaign was carried out for the hostel students with the cooperation of the health centre of the university.
       All students and staff of the hostel were vaccinated.
 



Art and Culture Activities:

   
1)    On the occasion of hostel day, Singing, Dance, One-act play and Mono acting competitions were organized 
2)    Lavani Manavandana programme was organized in which Mrs. Sanyogita Patil, Lavani Samradni delivered
       a speech to the students about importance of traditional dance form of Lavani
 



Career Development:

   
1)    Quiz Competitions were organized on the occasion of hostel day.
2)    A lecture on ‘Career Development’ delivered by Shri.Karmarkar.
3)    Centre for Career Guidance and Psychological Counseling of the university and Ladies Hostel Jointly
       organized a special lecture on, ‘Career Guidance and Counseling for students’ by a psychiatrist Mr. Kalidas Patil.
 

 

Self Defense Activities:

   
1)    Smt. Kavita Jambhale, Smt. Sushma Patole and Smt. Supriya Patole taught self-defense tactics to be  
       applied during adverse situations.  
 

  

Recreational Activities:

   
1)    Hostel is a second home for girls. Students are away from home and their beloved ones.
       Therefore, hostel administration has initiated some recreational activities for girls such as Fashion Show, Music Chair programme etc. 
2)    An interaction was organised with Dr. Amol Kolhe, main lead actor of ‘Shivputra Sambhajiraje’.
       He discussed his role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje and shared historical relevance of this act.
3)    During Navratri Festival 'Dandiya' programme was organized for the entertainment of the students.
 
 

 

General Awareness Activities:

   
1)    Dr. V. B. Kakade, Head Department of Economics has delivered a lecture on the importance of financial planning
      and recommended different investment areas.
2)    Mr. Yashwant Shitole, in his guest lecture on safe driving explained the safe driving skills and safety precautions while driving.
3)    An awareness program on ‘Organ transplantation’ was organized in which Dr. Hemant Kalvinde (Madras) acquainted
       the students about the necessity of organ transplantation. 
4)    An awareness programme was conducted on ‘Safety app for the girls’, in collaboration with Maharashtra Police, Kolhapur.
       Ladies constable Mrs A. H. Jadhav and Mrs. D. B. Kamble have given detailed information about the app.
5)    A special lecture to create awareness about ‘breast and cervical cancer’ was delivered by renowned Oncologist,
       Dr.Kaustubh Kulkarni, Kolhapur 
6)    A poster presentation was arranged in the hostel under Beti Bachao - Beti Padao Abhiyan. 
7)    Shri. Yogesh Dalvi, Social Welfare Department, Kolhapur has provided detailed information about the Swadhar Yojana Scholarships of Maharashtra State.
8)    Shri. Pramod Deshpande has delivered a lecture on “Scheme for Persons with Disabilities Under UGC XII Plan”.
9)    Under the environmental awareness campaign, a documentary film based on Panchganga River Pollution was shown by Shri Kapil Patil.
 
 
 

 

Guest Lectures:

   
1)    Shri Yashwant Shitole delivered a lecture on ‘Government Facilities and Development’ on the occasion of Yuva Jagar Shibir.
2)    Prof.V. B. Kakade, Department of Economics delivered a lecture on the topic entitled, ‘Economic Empowerment of Women’. 
3)    A renowned social activist Dr.Vidya Bal delivered a talk on “Towards Male Female Equality”.
4)    Smt. Jyoti Bhalkar, Gramin Vikas Taluka Samnvayak delivered lecture on “Economic Empowerment of Women”.
5)    Prof. Bharti Patil has delivered a lecture on “Indian Democracy”and she hasemphasized the importance of democracy. 
6)    Dr. Nilisha Desai delivered a lecture on “Solid Waste Management”to create awareness among the students about the protection of the environment. 
7)    Dr. R. D. Bodare, SGM College, Karad has delivered a lecture on, “Contribution of Savitribai Phule for Educational Upliftment of the Women”.

 



Day Celebrations:

   
1)    Celebrated Savitribai Phule Jayanti every year.
2)    Celebrated Dr. Appasaheb Pawar Birth Anniversary to pay tribute to the first Vice-Chancellor
       and pioneer of Earn and Learn Scheme of the Shivaji University.
3)     Hostel students always celebrate New Year with great passion and enthusiasm.
4)    Indian Constitution Day celebrated with reading of Preamble.
5)    Celebrated World Immunization Day with special lecture by Dr. Chhaya Purohit and Dr. Veenita Ranade.
6)    Every year hostel celebrates Hostel Day with various sports and cultural competitions
       to nurture the artistic talents of the students.  
 

 

Sport Activities: 

   
Hostel organizes Indoor and Outdoor sport competitions like Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Cricket, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Chess, Carrom etc.   

 

 Festival Celebration:

   
Celebrated festivals such as Kojagiri Pournima,Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas, Eid in the hostel.  

 

Other Activities:

   
1)    Hostel students along with the hostel staff participate in the cleanliness programme under the Swchha Bharat Abhiyan.
2)    Girls participated in the rally on the “Beti Bachao - Beti Padao Abhiyan” and  draped themselves in traditional attire imitating great women in the country like Savitribai Phule, Ran Ragini Tararani, Indira Gandhi etc.
