Report of Impact Analysis of Solar Energy Initiatives:

Shivaji University has decided move away from fossil fuels and create a 100 percent renewable energy system to become self sufficient.
To power the campus with 100 percent renewable energy, university has objective to reduce its energy consumption, obtaining its electricity from renewable energy sources particularly Solar Energy and meeting its heating, cooling and other building energy needs with electricity.

Shivaji University has enough renewable energy potential to power the University load. It is proved that high penetrations of renewable energy are possible using technologies available today at costs that university can afford, indicating that we can move toward an energy system powered by 100 percent renewable energy. University campuses are great places to accelerate the transition to 100 percent renewable energy.
In view of above, as a first step, Shivaji University has installed 180kW capacity solar power plant on its campus.  i.e. 100 kW solar power plant at roof top of Main Administrative building and 80kW capacity solar power plant at roof top of Chemistry building.  The system was commissioned and put into operation since 1st February 2018 and 8th February 2018 respectively.

In order to dispose of the wet waste  / biomass garbage generated in the University Campus from canteen and Hostel mess etc., Shivaji University decided and install the waste management system i.e. Bio gas plant system of feeding capacity 100 Kg at Department of Technology and 400 Kg at Vidyarthi  Bhavan Hostel which is under construction.
100 Kg plant was commissioned in the month of May, 2019 and is producing approximately 4Kg per day of bio gas which is being used for cooking application at university hostel mess. Thus Shivaji University has adapted Zero Waste management Policy.
