About RDC
The role of the Research and Development Cell (RDC) at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, is evolving beyond its traditional functions of being a repository of knowledge, providing academic education, and generating papers and patents. Instead, it is transitioning into a dynamic system that fosters direct engagement with societal partners by cultivating collaborative relationships, the RDC will play vital role in actively promoting and supporting IIL in regional innovativeness and creating an environment conducive to innovation.
Vision:
To serve as the primary support system in establishing a conducive platform for enhancing research productivity within Shivaji University, aligned with the provisions of NEP-2020.
Mission:
- To create a conducive environment for enhanced research productivity.
- To work with University Industry Interaction Cell for encouraging collaboration across industry, government, community- based organizations, and agencies at the local, national, and international levels.
- To facilitate greater access to research through mobilization of resources and funding.
Objectives:
1. Facilitate maximum collaboration both within and between departments to minimize isolated research, thereby mitigating negative research impacts.
2. Foster the formation of thematic groups and transdisciplinary research clusters to promote networking and enhance project outcomes.
3. Encourage Invention and Innovation by facilitating the creation of novel inventions and the development of products beneficial to society.
4. Advocate for the Triple Helix Model of Innovation, promoting collaboration among the University-Industry-Government spheres.
5. Support SCILL and SUKRDF in cultivating an ecosystem conducive to incubation and start-ups on campus. This includes bridging the gap between basic research and commercialization through collaboration with nearby incubators and providing mentorship to young start-ups.
6. Organize activities to stimulate both basic and translational research, fostering a holistic research environment.
7. Contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) by driving innovations, supporting start-ups, and pursuing result-oriented goals.

Train and encourage faculty and research scholars, potential students to the skills for identification of research problems which will be impactful and product oriented.

Advocate for the Triple Helix Model of Innovation, promoting collaboration among the University-Industry-Government spheres.

To conduct workshops and seminars by experts on section 8 company with stakeholders in the University, Industry on the role of section 8 company in fostering innovation, incubation and start-ups in co-ordination with SCILL, SUKRDF and UILC.

Efficient and effective use of Government initiative by joint University-Industry innovation to solve regional Industrial problems jointly by university and concern industry experts in line with NEHQF.

Support SCILL and SUKRDF in cultivating an ecosystem conducive to incubation and start-ups on campus. This includes bridging the gap between basic research and commercialization through collaboration with nearby incubators and providing mentorship to young start-ups.

Identify potential researchers (faculty, research students and students) through patents and publication and encourage them to participate actively in the events organize by SCILL, SUKRDF, IPR, and RDC.

Capacity enhancement and skill up for taking start-ups promoting job providers in line with with the SDG’s and NEHQF.

Organize activities to stimulate both basic and translational research, fostering a holistic research environment.

Conduct seminars and workshops by experts who have achieved translating basic research to something useful to the society by sharing detailed steps they had walked through to the young researchers and budding students.

Capacity building through train the trainers by stimulating and igniting stakeholders on how what kind of basic research can be translated societal relevant solutions in line with the SDG’s.
