COMRADE COM. DATTA DESHMUKH
Establishment of Comrade Datta Deshmukh Adhyasan Comrade Datta Deshmukh Adhyasan was established at Shivaji University Kolhapur out of the funds donated by Swabhimani Vij Kamgar, a mouthpiece of Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation. The Federation donated Rs. 10,00,000/- to Shivaji University for the Adhyasan Comrade Datta Deshmukh Comrade Datta Deshmukh was an important workers’ leader of Modern Maharashtra. He was active in Freedom Movement and Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. He organised the unorganised workers, specially electricity workers. He gave immense contribution to agriculture, energy, water conservation, water distribution, etc. Throughout his life he fought against injustices at different levels. He was the Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for 16 years i.e. 1946 to 1962.
