Established in 1989, the Department of Computer Science has a rich history of taking the lead in Teaching, Research & Development in frontier areas of Computer Science and allied domains. Given the rapid rate of obsolescence of knowledge, especially in Computational Sciences, the department faculty strives their best to keep abreast with the technology. The same has genuinely helped the department to achieve many laurels and emerge on the country's national map of Centres of Excellence. Recently Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has recognized the department as a Centre of Excellence in Cyber security and Data Science under the scheme Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers 
and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) with grants in aid over Rs. 6 Cr. 

Our achievements so far: 
• 5000+ teachers trained in Cyber Security and Data Science 
• state of the art laboratory in above thrust areas to ensure experiential teaching-learning for all stakeholders 
• Study material with an appealing sense of readability 
• Cyber Security and Data Sciences courses at all levels for all streams (arts, science, commerce, engineering, etc.) – ready 
• Total number of students trained by these teachers by the next couple of years 50,000 

Other achievements are: 
• MoU with Google in Kotlin based development 
• MoU with CDAC for R & D in big data analytics and internship of students 
• MoU with Quickheal Foundation for training in computer security.

All our above said achievements are leading to:  
• Becoming a brand-enhancing the employability of the students 
• Developing into a premier hub of research in Cyber Security and Data Sciences 
• Attracting more research students in the state of the art areas such as smart cities, Machine 
Learning, Deep Learning, IoT, web, and big data analytics. 
• Undertaking industry-oriented application research 

Opportunities exist for students: 
• Cyber Experts needed globally by end 2021 – 3.5 Million
 • Cyber Experts required in India by 2025 – 10 lakhs 
• Better employment opportunity for Cyber Security trained students 
• Cyber competent employee – Need of the hour 
  
For synergies in approach, seamless thought process and perceptible capability, we are working with apex organizations like NASSCOM and CDAC. Besides the academic and research achievements, the Department of Computer Science is proud to be associated with MHRD, Government of India, for the noble objective of Cyber Security, which has become synonymous with National Security
