Department of Commerce & Management -M.B.A. Unit

The MBA Unit is established in 2004. The department offers full time MBA programmes and Ph.D programmes. The MBA course is approved by AICTE. The intake capacity of MBA is 60. The MBA course is of two years, divided in four semesters. Each semester is having eight subjects which includes one paper of project report & viva. The department offers dual specialization for MBA students. The department is following credit system from June 2008.

The UGC has sanctioned the grant of Rs.40 lakhs for the strengthening of the department in 2007.

The thrust area of research is in the areas of Marketing, Human Resource Management, Financial Management and Production Management.

• MBA

From 2008-09 the MBA Distance courses is also run by MBA Unit. The Department has started two P.G. Diploma Courses i.e. PG Diploma in Banking and Finance and PG Diploma in Forex Management.

There are two chairs Viz. Bank of India Chair & IDBI Chairs functioning in the department. The department is having its own library with 900 books & 04 journals, computer lab having 17 computers and other resource as learning resources.

The department has conducted executive development programme for employees in Shiroli MIDC industries in association with Shiroli Manufacturer’s Association, Kolhapur (SMAK).

The department is having adequate classrooms, seminar hall, library and computer lab.

The department is having MoU with KLS’s IMER, Belgaum under which the department conducts various activities in collaboration with IMER, Belgaum.

At present the department has four staff members. One Director and Four Lecturers with 12 Contributory faculties. Out of four three staff members have secured Ph. D. degrees. They are specialized in subjects like Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management and Production Management. The MBA Unit is getting the faculties from the Department of Commerce and Department of Law as contributory faculty. There faculties from department of Commerce and one form Department of Law is teaching various courses of management. Thus the department is getting the in-house faculties from the university, Department is taking initiative in Combining Classes for Common Subjects of M Com.& MBA.
