नेटवर्क देखभाल कक्ष
- Campus-wide network has been established and functioning from October 2001. Internet Service set up has been established in the USIC Extn. Bldg. This cell has taken active participation in the Establishment of Campus-wide Network and Internet Services at University’s Kolhapur campus. This cell is engaged in the Maintenance hardware and services viz. HTTP, Web, and Mail.
- Campus-wide computer network of around 3300+ nodes has been established in the University campus at Kolhapur. 22 building in the campus are connected using Fibre optic backbone. At present 36 Academic departments as well as Main Administrative Building is connected. Approx. 23 km. OFC cable laid down underground to connect all Departments/Sections to Data Centre at Main Administrative Building. Campus Networking under NME-ICT project of MHRD,New Delhi has been completed. Live webcasting of all major events are undertaken by Network Cell.
- Campus Wi-Fi project is also completed under the funding received from UGC and RUSA. Wi-Fi zones are created in each academic department, hostels, canteen, guest house etc. Another campus Wi-Fi project has been completed by Reliance Jio where approx. 450+ indoor access points and about 30 outdoor access points are installed. Campus students, faculty, staff and visitors are using Wi-Fi facility.Approx. 17 km. OFC cable laid down underground to connect all Departments/Sections.
- A 20 Mbps and 200 Mbps leased line is procured from local BSNL. Firewall equipment make Cisco Pix is used for security of the network. Now total 220 Mbps lease line is being shared for various activities. In addition 1 Gbps lease line has been received via BSNL under National Knowledge Network (NKN) Project. Shri. K. S. Deorukhakar, Network Administrator is working under guidance of Dr. M. J. Joshi, Co-ordinator.
