Welcome to the Department of Chemistry, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The Department has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, quality teaching, and impactful research in the chemical sciences. With a strong foundation in core areas of Chemistry and a growing focus on applied, industrial, and interdisciplinary domains, the Department strives to nurture scientific temper, innovation, and professional competence among students.
Our academic programmes at the postgraduate and doctoral levels are designed in accordance with NEP 2020, emphasizing outcome-based education, skill development, research orientation, and societal relevance. The Department is actively engaged in frontier research areas such as Coordination Chemistry, Organometallics, materials chemistry, Computational chemistry, nanoscience, green and sustainable chemistry, analytical and industrial chemistry, and emerging functional materials.
The faculty members are highly qualified, research-active, and committed to mentoring students for academic excellence, competitive examinations, higher education, and industry careers. The Department encourages collaborative research, industry interaction, consultancy, and outreach activities to bridge the gap between academia and societal needs.
