Seminar on Preparation of NET/SET/GATE Examination

A seminar on NET/SET examination was organized by the Industrial Chemistry Course, Department of Chemistry, Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 03 Jan 2026. The workshop aimed to prepare M.Sc. Chemistry students for the upcoming NET/SET/GATE examinations.
The programme commenced at 11:30 p.m. and concluded at 02:00 p.m. with an enthusiastic participation of about 100 M.Sc. Chemistry students.
The resource person for the workshop was Prof. G. S. Rashinkar, Coordinator of the Industrial Chemistry Course, who delivered an insightful and highly informative session. Professor Rashinkar shared comprehensive guidance on the NET/SET/GATE examinations, including effective preparation strategies, important topics to focus on, time management skills, and techniques to successfully crack the examinations. His presentation was clear, motivating, and catered to the academic needs of the students preparing for these competitive tests.
The workshop was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Aviraj Kuldeep and Mr. Suraj Khot, who ensured the smooth conduct of all activities throughout the session.
Overall, the workshop was highly beneficial, providing students with valuable knowledge, practical tips, and renewed confidence towards approaching the NET/SET/GATE examinations.

“Report of Two Days Training Session under Capacity Building of PM-USHA” 25th and 26th September, 2024
The Industrial Chemistry Course, Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Central Placement Cell, successfully concluded a two-day capacity-building program under the PM-USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) initiative. Held on the 25th and 26th of September, 2024, the program aimed at enhancing the professional and employability of M.Sc. Chemistry students through a series of expert lectures and interactive sessions.
The program featured the following insightful sessions:
1. Mr. Dipak Dalavi opened the program with a compelling lecture on Corporate Culture. He introduced students to the fundamental principles of workplace dynamics, the importance of adaptability, and the need for fostering a professional attitude in corporate settings. His talk provided valuable insights into aligning personal values with corporate ethics and thriving in the modern workforce.
2. Mr. Ganesh Kulkarni followed with a practical and hands-on session on Resume Writing and Interview Techniques. His lecture guided the students through the process of building an effective resume and offered valuable tips for acing job interviews. By focusing on structure, presentation, and key communication skills, Mr. Kulkarni equipped students with the tools to present themselves confidently to prospective employers.
3. Dr. U. V. Arvindekar conducted an enlightening session on Expectation Management. His talk focused on setting realistic career goals, managing workplace expectations, and developing the resilience needed for long-term success in the professional world. He also emphasized the importance of self-awareness and effective communication in managing personal and professional relationships.
In addition to the expert lectures, a key highlight of the program was the Mock Interviews conducted by a panel comprising Dr. Rajan Padval, Coordinator of the Central Placement Cell, and Dr. U. V. Arvindekar. These interviews provided students with a simulated interview experience, allowing them to receive personalized feedback on their performance. The mock interviews were instrumental in boosting the students' confidence and preparing them for real-world interview scenarios.
The program was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in Q&A sessions, discussions, and mock interview exercises. The participation and enthusiasm shown by the students were commendable, reflecting their commitment to learning and self improvement.

Brief Description of the Activity
The Industrial Chemistry Course, Department of Chemistry, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, organized a special program titled “Personality Development with a Spiritual Outlook.” The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. G. S. Rashinkar. The felicitation of the Chief Guest, Mr. Mahadeo Hore, was carried out by Prof. Dr. Rashinkar, while the Invited Speaker, Mr. Vikrant Urunkar, was felicitated by the Chief Guest Mr. Mahadeo Hore.
In his address, Mr. Hore emphasized the importance of competitive examinations and motivated students to prepare with dedication, confidence, and consistency. Following this, Mr. Urunkar delivered an insightful lecture on personality development with a spiritual perspective. He highlighted essential values such as self-discipline, positive thinking, stress management, inner strength, and ethical living. His talk inspired students to cultivate not only professional competence but also a balanced and holistic approach to life.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Miss. Sneha Shirgavkar expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support. This event was coordinated by Dr. Aviraj Kuldeep and Mr. Suraj Khot.

The event was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, revered as the Father of Chemistry in India.

In this campus interview, interviews were conducted by CMS Software Company Private Limited for the post of Assistant Chemical Analyzer. Notably, these interviews were only for M.Sc. II students passing year 2025 of the Department of Chemistry.

Objective of the Workshop
The workshop aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in the preparation of various household chemicals, such as phenyl, fabric whitener, and liquid soap. The workshop also provided valuable insights into the potential for entrepreneurship and starting small-scale businesses with the knowledge gained.

Workshop Activities
At 12:30 p.m., the practical session of the workshop commenced. Around **50 students** participated in the hands-on session. Dr. K.V. Gaikwad led the session, demonstrating the preparation of various household chemicals, including:
- Phenyl (Floor cleaner)
- Fabric Whitener (Neel)
- Liquid Soap
- Detergent Powder
Participants were guided step-by-step on the methods, techniques, and safety precautions necessary for the preparation of these chemicals.
Key Learnings
The workshop provided valuable insights into the chemical processes involved in creating household cleaning products. Students learned:
- The formulation and preparation processes for various chemicals
- Practical knowledge of household chemical production
- How these products can be marketed and sold in consumer stores
The products created during the workshop will be made available for sale at the **consumer stores of Shivaji University, Kolhapur**, which offers great potential for students looking to start their own business ventures.
