About YCSRD

The idea of setting up of the Yashwantrao Chavan School of Rural Development is conceived on the event of Golden Jubilee of the Shivaji University in 2012. Yashwantrao Chavan was the founder of this University. He was the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the division of Bombay State and the fifth Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was a strong Congress leader, Co-operative leader, social activist and writer. He was popularly known as Leader of Common People. He advocated social democracy in his speeches and articles and was instrumental in establishing co-operatives in Maharashtra for the betterment of the farmers.

The YCSRD is established in the Shivaji University campus as one of the autonomous (proposed phase) schools for conducting academic, research, training and extension activities associated with the rural development and rural management. It is a multi-disciplinary school covering all disciplines of science, technology, social sciences, agricultural

sciences, trade and managerial subjects.
