Awards - 2016

Mrs. Helen Azariah Memorial excellence award for peace, prosperity, culture and social service from Association of Third World Studies South Asia Chapter (ATWS, SAC) given to Centre for visually impaired students, Shivaji University Kolhapur on 29^th November 2016.

To honor the sacrifice of police personnel in Mumbai bomb blast the Martyrs day was observed on 26^th November 2016 and on the same day celebrated Indian Constitution Day.

Library was awarded second Prize on University Foundation Day, 18^th  November 2016  i.e   for the best maintenance during the ‘Swachata Saptaha Abhiyan’ of the University under support service department.

Vachan Prerna Din 2016

Celebrated “Vacchan Prerna Din” on 14^th October 2016. On this occasion Dr. Bhimrao Gasti given a wonderful talk on his published literature. 

Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at BBKL by cleaning the Campus and Donating 268 books to Matoshri Vruddhashram and Vachan Katta For Old Persons - 02/10/2016

                On 2^nd October, 2016 Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center participated in the programme of cleaning the Campus of the university at 7.30a.m. to 10.30 a.m. On the same day, as a part of social responsibility, it donated 268 books to Matoshri Vruddhshram at the auspicious hands of Hon. V.C.Dr. Devanand Shinde to Shri.Shivajirao Patole, the president of the Vruddhashram and  in the presence of Dr. Namit Khot , University Librarian ,Dr.D.B.Sutar, Dy. Librarian, Shri. Y. G. Jadhav, Asst. Professor, Dept of LIS, SUK.

                On the same day, BBK Library and Dept. f LIS jointly arranged the Vachan Katta programme for the ld aged persons of the vruddhashram. Abhijit Ghate expressed the contents of the book by Gandhi entitled as ‘Maze Satyache Prayog’ and Manju Deshmukh expressed her thoughts on ‘Maza Shakshatkari Hrudayrog.’ Dr. Neeta Patil played the role of anchoring. Smt. Almas Pendhari expressed the Vote of thanks.All the staff of LIS Dept. and  students were present for the programme.  

Wachan – Katta Programme on 14/03/2016

      On 14^th March 2016, Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center arranged ‘Wachan –Katta’ Programme. Under the programme ‘Kavita-Wachan’ was successfully carried out. Dr. Namita Khot was president of the programme, Shri. Govind Patil, Eminent Marathi Poet was the chief Guest of the programme. Dr. D.B. Sutar introduced the Chief Guest.

     More than 12 students read the Marathi poems. The various subjects of the poems were friendship,  Love & affection , social problems & nature. Shri. Govind Patil sir presented the poems by singing them in a musical tone. He motivated all the students to read, sing & present  the poems for keeping themselves fresh & in fantastic mood.

     The student members of  Wachan –Katta Samir Anapat, Mauli Pandhare, Swati Patil, Somnath Ballal were present for the Programme. Rajesh Patil was anchor of the programme. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Samir Anapat. Many students, faculty members & citizens were present for this programme.

‘Granthmohatsav 2016’ -

• On the occasion of  52^nd  Convocation Ceremony,Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center organised ‘Granthmohatsav 2016’ -a Book Exhibition  between 26-28 February, 2016. On 26^th February, 2016  ‘Orchestra Ideal Stars’ by Visually Impaired Students of National Association for Blind (NAB), Kolhapur was organized.  On 27^th Feb., 2016 Granth-Dindi and Celebration of Marathi Bhasha Din was organized. On 23^rd February, 2016.  A book exhibition on the occasion of the National Science Day on the theme “Make In India was organised. All these functions were inaugurated in the presence of Hon. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Devanand Shinde, Hon. Director, BCUD., Dr. D.R. More, Hon. I/c. Registrar, Dr. V.N. Shinde, Hon. Controller of Exam Mr. Mahesh Kakade,  Hon. I/c. Finance and Accounts Officer Shri. A. B. Chougule. During this Granth Mahostav 2016,  nearly 55 book sellers and publishers from all over the India were participated for book exhibition.  Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian and all the Staff of Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center were present for all these occasions. The occasion was a great success for library and many students and visitors appreciated all the events organized by the library.

Vachan Katta Event 15^th January, 2016

Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center organized ‘Vachan Katta Event’ on 15^th January, 2016 under the guidance of Dr. Namita B. Khot , the University Librarian and Co-ordinator of Vachan-Katta committee. Smt. Anuradha Gurav was the Chief Guest of the event and Prof. Vishwanath Shinde, Professor, Department of Marathi, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was the President for this function. During this function

Mr. Chaitanya Kulkarni, Student from Electronic Department, read the book of Veena Gavankar's ‘Ek Hota Karver’ and Shri Abhijit Birnale, Department of History read the book of Bhalchandra Nemade’s 'Kosla' During this function, the two books written by Smt. Anuradha Gurav – 'Balkatha-Sangrah' and ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna’ were released and published. Shri Santosh Vader,  Vice-president of Vachan Katta Bahuuuddeshiya  Sanstha has read the report on ‘Vachan Padharvada’. During this function, Shri Samar Anpat,  Dr. D. B. Sutar, Dr. P. B.  Bilawar, Shri A.B. Matekar, Shri C.N. Gurav and all the library staff and students were present on this occasion. Shri. Yuvaraj Kadam, President of Vachan Katta Bahuuuddeshiya  Sanstha expressed the vote of thanks

Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center organized one day Orientation Programme on “API for College Librarians and Introduction to DSpace for building institutional repository”,  on 8^th January, 2016. Function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest-Dr. Mohan Kherde, Sant Gadge Baba University Librarian, Amaravati University, Amaravati and President Dr. V.N. Shinde, Hon. Ag. Registrar, Shivaji University, Kolhapur During the function the presentation on 'Introduction to DSpace' was made by Shri. Kallolli Prashant and expert Lecture on “API for College Librarians” was delivered by Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian,  Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Dr. D.B. Sutar, Dr. P.B. Bilawar all the library staff and 150 college librarians from affiliated colleges of Shivaji University were present for this function. Dr. D.B. Sutar, expressed  the vote of thanks

Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center organized one day Orientation Programme, on the topic “Importance of Citation Analysis, Google Scholar, Research Gate and H-Index research” on 7^th January, 2016for all the Shivaji University, Kolhapur faculty members.  The program Inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Mohan Kherde, University Librarian, Snath Gadage Baba Amaravati University, Amaravati, Introduction about the programme was made by Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian,  Shivaji University, Kolhapur and the expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohan Kherde on “Importance of Citation Analysis, Google Scholar, Research Gate and H-Index in research”. One Day Work-shop on “ICT Training for Visually Impaired Students” on 6^th January, 2016.

On the occasion of birth Anniversary of Luis Brillae, Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center organized one day workshop on “ICT Training for Visually Impaired Students /faculty” on 6^th January, 2016. The workshop was Inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. M.B. Dongare, Director, National Association for Blinds (NAB) and President Dr. D. R. More, Director, BCUD, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and in presence of the Resource Persons

Dr. Vaswani M.S., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and  Shri. Prashant Chavare of Bank of Baroda, Kolhapur. 50 participants remained present for the workshop. During the workshop Shri. Sunil R. Birje, Senior Library Assistant, expressed the vote of thanks. Dr. D.B. Sutar, Deputy Librarian and Dr. P.B. Celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

Exhibition on ''Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa."

The Photograph presentation and book exhibition on 'Mahatma Gandhi' is organised at Abalal Rahman Art Gallery,New Library extension Building of Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center, Shivaji University Kolhapur. It is jointly organised by Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center  and  Gandhian Study Center on 2^nd october 2015. In the exhibition, 30 photographs of Gandhiji and 100 books on 'Mahatma Gandhi' are exhibited. It is open from 2^nd October 2015 to 8^th October 2015.

The exhibition was inaugarated by Dr. D.R.More, Hon. Director B.C.U.D., During exhibition Dr. V.N.Shinde, Ag. Registrar., Dr.M.A.Kakade, Hon. COE., Hon. Dr. Bharti Patil, Gandhi Study Center Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian & all the staff of  university were present for this occasion. 

Inauguration of Abalal Rehman Art Gallery, New Library Reading Room

The Inauguration of Abalal Rehman Art Gallery took place on 25^th August, 2015 at New Library Building of Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. In the art gallery, 56 original paintings from ‘Rangbahar’ have been displayed. On the same occasion, the library reading room is opened for the students of the Shivaji University from 10.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Shri Shamkant Jadhav, Chief-Guest – Founder of Rangbahar, Dr. Devanand Shinde, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. V.N. Shinde, Ag. Registrar, Dr. D.R. More, Director, BCUD,  Dr. Jayasingrao Pawar, Director, Shahu Research Centre, Dr. Namita Khot, University,  Librarian, All the members of Management Council, Prin. Ajay Dalavi,  staff of the University, were present on this occasion.

Rare Book Exhibition    

On the occasion of  Barr. Balasaheb Khardekar  112^th Birth Anniversary, the  Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center has arranged book exhibition on 1^st August, 2015 to 3^rd August, 2015 of Biographies and Autobiographies from the Library Collection. Also separate exhibition of books which are celebrating their 100^th birth anniversary (i.e. books published in 1915) was also arranged.  Dr. Devanand Shinde, Hon. Vice-Chancellor has inaugurated this exhibition and appreciated the idea. On this occasion of inaugural function Dr. V.N. Shinde, Ag. Registrar, Shri.   N.V. Kongle,  Finance and Accounts Officer, Dr. D. K. Gaikwad, Director Students welfare, Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian, Shri. D.B. Sutar, Dy. Library and Shri. P.B. Bilawar, Assistant Librarian and all library staff were present on this occasion of Book Exhibition arranged on 112^th Birth Anniversary of Barr. Balasaheb Khardekar in University Library.

255 books on biography and autobiographi and 50 rare books published on the year 1915 to celebrate 100^th  Birth Anniversary of publication were exhibited.

Chandrakant (Dada) B.Patil, Minister of Co-operation , Marketing and Water Conservation , Employment Guarantee Scheme, Women and Child Development, Hon’ble Dr. Ashok Bhoite, Ag. Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University,will be present for the inauguration program.

• Two days User awareness programme on Advances in Research Methodology on 10^thï 12^th September 2014, arranged at Academic Resource Centre, Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center, Shivaji University, for all research students and faculties of the University
• On 10^th September 2014, Dr. D. T. Shirke, Professor, Department of Statistics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Dr. D. N. Kashid, Associate Professor, Department of Statistics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur delivered a technical lecture on the topic Application of SPSS Software package in Researchï with illustrations and examples.
• On 12^th September 2014, Dr. S. K. Savanur, Retd. Sr. Faculty, Joshi-Bedekar College, Thane delivered a lecture on the topic Statistical Techniques in Research by exploring the details on topics like Statistical Methods, Data Analysis and Interpretation Process and citation analysis with illustrated examples.
• NAAC Peer Team Visit to Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center, Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 26^th Sept., 2014 at 9.30 am to 11.00 am to see all sections, services & facilities, reading room, ARC study centre and computerisation of library
• Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center arranged Vachan-Katta program on 18^th October 2014.  On this occasion, Mrs. Meghana Kawale, student from political science department has presented the book  entitled- ‘Malgudi Days’ and expressed her thoughts about the book.
• Dr. Namita B. Khot, University Librarian and Co-ordinatior of Vachan-Katta event  welcomed the guests and briefed the activities of Vachan-Katta. Prof. Dr. Sunilkumar Lawate was the Chief Guest of the event. Other dignitaries namely Ex. Principal, Dr. M.A. Shaikh from D.G. College Satara, Prof. Dr. I. G. Shaikh from Urdu-Persian Academy Kolhapur, Shr. S. B. • Special Training on Turnitin-Anti plagiarism Software for all faculty members organized at Academic Resource Centre during 31^st    July, 2014
• Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center arranged Vachan-Katta program on 5th December, 2014.  On this occasion, Shri Mauli Pandhare, Electronic Department and Shri. Akash Pandit, Commerce Department   has presented the book  entitled- ‘Musafir'and expressed her thoughts about the book.
• Dr. Namita B. Khot, University Librarian and Co-ordinatior of Vachan-Katta event  welcomed the guests and briefed the activities of Vachan-Katta. Shri. Sanjay Pawar, Depury Collector was the Chief Guest of the event. Shivaji University Kolhapur, students from various departments and all the B.B.K.library staff members were present on this occasion.

• Next “Vacchan-Katta” Program was held on 6^th January 2015 by Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center.  On this occasion the Senior Poet Smt. Nilambari Kulkarni , was the Chief Guest. During this programme many students read the poetry, especially the Visually Impaired students  viz. Ku. Sunita Sanadi and Ku. Ruchira Sandi read the poetry in Braille Lipi. Dr. Namita Khot, co-coordinator  and all the Library Staff and students were present for the program. 

• One day work on “ICT Training for visually impaired students/ faculty”  was organized on 13^th January,  2015 by Barr. Balasaheb Kharadekar Knowledge Resource Center  and this work-shop was inaugurated by  Dr. N.J. Pawar, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, and Prin.(Dr.) A.S. Bhoite, Hon-Pro-Vice Chancellor,  Dr. Manohar Vaswani, Assistant Professor guided as resource person and delivered nice presentation on theme 1) ICT TRAINING and 2) Career opportunities for blind students in two sessions for this workshop Co-coordinator Dr. Namita Khot, University Librarian, 40 visually impaired students and all  the library staff  has taken  efforts  for this work-shop.

• At the time of University 51th Convocation Ceremoney, ‘Granthmohatsav 2015’ -a book exhibition  and ChedChad Ka ! Drama these events was organized during 28th-29th January, 2015
