DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT

SHIVAJI UNIVERSITY, KOLHAPUR

Shivaji University has established the Department of Commerce and Management in 1990. It is an important academic department of the university which has national and international repute in business studies and especially in the thrust areas like accounting, finance, banking, entrepreneurship, rural resources management. The department is conducting academic programmes like M. Com., M. Phil and Ph. D.

The department started M. B. A. programme from academic year 2004-05. The department has also broadened its academic bottom-line by introducing M. C. A. (Commerce) programme since 2008-09.

IDBI Bank’s Late Shri R. N. Godbole Chair and Bank of India Chair are important sections of the department. These two chairs are contributing towards the areas of 'financial management and banking research' and 'rural banking' respectively.  

The department has been conducting various lecture series, memorial lectures and short-duration add-on courses of contemporary significance such as P. G. Diploma in Banking and Finance and P. G. Diploma in Treasury and Forex Management.
