Information for contributors/authors

Journal of Shivaji University (Science & Technology) is primarily intended to promote research work of teachers and students of Shivaji University. Contributions embodying original research in pure and applied Science will be published; such contributions will be received from students and teachers of Shivaji University and other Universities.
The journal will cover articles from the faculties of Science, Engineering, Medicine & Technology. It will be published once in a year.

Submission of Manuscripts: Manuscripts of the paper in triplicate along with a soft copy in the form of CD should be sent to the

It is presumed that contributions forwarded for publication in the Journal have not been submitted for publication elsewhere. The copyright of the contributions published in the journal will vest with the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Form of Manuscripts and General Style: Manuscripts should be concise and typewritten in double space on one side of the good quality paper. The matter should be arranged in the following order: title, name(s) of author(s), department(s) and institution(s), abstract, Key words, introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements and references. Abstract, tables and captions for figures should be typed on separate pages.
 

  • Title: The title should be concise & information retrieved. If a paper forms a part of series, a subtitle, should be provided. If the title is long, a short running title should be supplied.

  • Abstract: The abstract not exceeding 200 words, should indicate the scope and significant contents of the paper, highlighting the principal findings and conclusions.

  • Introduction: The introductory part should be brief and should state precisely the scope of the paper. Reviewing of the literature should not exceed what is necessary to indicate the reason for the research undertaken.

  • Materials and Methods: The nomenclature, the source of material and the procedures should be clearly stated to enable other workers to repeat the work if necessary. New methods should be described but if the method is well known, a reference to it should be cited and however if any modification is adopted, clearly indicate the same.

  • Results: Only such data as are essential for understanding the discussion of main conclusions from the study should be included. The data should be statistically analyzed. The same data should not be presented both in tabular and graphic forms. Interpretation of the data should be taken up under discussion. In some cases it may be desirable to combine results and discussion in a single section. Only essential data be provided.

  • Discussion: Long discussion should be avoided. The discussion should be with the interpretation of results without repeating information already published under results.

  • Acknowledgements: It should be brief and specific assistance only not for providing routine facilities.

  • References: References to literature be given in the alphabetical order.

  1. References to Research Paper: These will include surnames and initials of author(s). Abbreviated names of journal or symposium volume number, year in bracket, followed by page number eg. Patil B. P., J. Mater. Chem. Phys, 56/4, (1999), 147-153.

  2. References to Book: The names and initial of author(s), the title of the book, editor(s), name of publisher and place, year in circular brackets and page e.g. Walker D. A., In: Photosynthesis and Photorespiration, edited by Hatch M. D., Osmond C. B. & Slatyer R. O., Wiley-Inter Science, New York (1971), 100.

  3. Reference to Thesis: The name of the author, University or Institution to which it was submitted, year of the submission. e.g. Nimbalkar J. D. : Ph. D. thesis, Shivaji University, Kolhapur (1973).

  4. Unpublished papers and personal Communications: They should be indicated in the references. e.g. Ladgaonkar B. P.: Unpublished work (1996) or Ladgaonkar B. P.: Personal Communication, 1996.

  5. Abbreviations: The abbreviations of names of journals as approved by American Chemical Society and used in Chemical Abstracts or any other such abstracts should be used.

If references contain more than two authors, the names of all authors should be given. The abbreviations et. al idem & ibid should be avoided.

  • Tables: Tables should be typed on separate sheet of paper without any text matter. They should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and bear brief titles. Units of measurements be abbreviated and placed below the heading and in rectangular brackets.

  • Illustrations: Three sets of illustrations are to be submitted. They should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, Caption and legends to the figures should be typed on a separate sheet of paper and attached at the end of the manuscript.

  • Proof & reprints: Authors are sent a set of galley proofs and a reprint order form. The order form must be completed and returned with corrected proofs together with a floppy containing the corrected text of the manuscript to the Managing Editor, within five days after its receipt.

  • Approved SI Units should be used throughout the text.
