Shivaji University Centres for Post Graduate Studies, Solapur is situated at 9 kilometers away from the Solapur Bus stand and 10 kms. away from railway station at Kegaon on Solapur Pune Road within 38.5 Acres of land.  The centre is housed in three well-furnished buildings for three Departments, offering nine different courses, library and Administrative unit. Shivaji University Centre for Post Graduate Studies, Solapur was established in August 1984 with three Courses of applied nature in Physics (With Specialization Applied Electronics), Chemistry (With Specialization Polymer Chemistry) and Geology ( With Specialization Applied Geology).  Initially this Centre was in 'B' Block, Old Medical College Building at Hotgi Naka, Solapur.  Since June 2001 this Centre has been shifted at Kegaon in its own campus.  In 1997, three new courses Industrial Chemistry, Electronic Science and  M.A. (AIHCA) where started under the Dept. of Chemistry, Physics  and Geology respectively on self-supporting basis.  In 1998, a course on computer application MCA was started under Department of Physics, on self supporting basis.  In June 2000 ,two 1 year P.G. Diploma courses Diploma in Tourism and Diploma in Museology were started under Department of Geology on self supporting basis.  This Centre is also having facilities for research mainly for Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Geology, History and Ancient Indian History Culture and Archeology.
         From the beginning itself the Centre is taking care of  the needs of the students from the Solapur District.  The study centre for the local students is established in 1974.  Now at the Center all the Shivaji University publications needed to the students including all external forms, convocation forms, eligibility, migration, transfer certificates etc (total 82 publications) are available for sale. 
     Centre runs the placement activities for the students and provides attention for the overall development of the students.  Centre also runs a program, the Service Spectrum through which eminent personalities in the field of science and technology deliver the lectures on Specialized as well as popular Science topics. 
   The Centre is having a Library with 38 Journals and 14,000 books for the students.  These books are reference books for all the subjects given at Post Graduate Centre, Solapur.
