A
workshop on “Transit of Venus” was organized by Bharat Dnyan Vidyanan Samudaya
in coordination with Department of Physics, Shivaji University. Prof. N. J.
Pawar, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was the chief guest
of the function. Prof. Pawar in his speech said, ‘Science is based on facts,
reality and should be reached to the common man of the society. Search in
different areas of Physics has been useful in understanding many concepts
about the universe. Astrological research helped us understand happenings in
space. Transit of Venus is an important event and should be watched by
everybody’. Dr. T. Venkateswaran, Scientist, Department of Science and
Technology made presentation on Transit of Venus and explained how to observe
space. On this occasion Mr. Amol Karkhanis, Prof. Dhanshree Aglawe, Mr.
Tulshiram Killedar, Mr. Datta Desai, Prof. C. H. Bhosale, Head Department of
Physics, Dr. Sharad Navare and Dr. D. K. Gaikawad were present.
