The Department of
Sociology organized one day symposium on 24th January 2006 to
discuss developmental and environmental issues in Maharashtra. The symposium
was inaugurated by Dr. Jay Samant, HOD of Department of Environmental Science
of the University. In his speech, he underscored the importance of protection
of environment in Maharashtra by creating awareness in the minds of the
people. More than 12 scholars from different disciplines presented their
papers and presentation was followed by a lively discussion. The aim of
symposium was to study the issues of environment and development through inter
disciplinary perspective. Dr. R. B. Patil worked as Co-ordinator of the
function.
