Department of History and
Chh. Shahu Maharaj Centre for Studies in Maratha History jointly organized
five days long Dr. Appasaheb Pawar memorial lecture series. Prof. A.A. Dange
Director – BCUD inaugurated the lecture series on 6th February
2006. Dr. Smt. Vidya Gadgil of Ambarnath delivered the first lecture on
‘Tanjawarchi Maratha Sanskriti’ (Maratha culture in Tanjawar). Dr. T.T.
Mahajan of Shirpur, spoke on ‘Chh. Shivarayanchi Nyayaniti’(Judicial Policy of
Chh. Shivaji) on 07th February 2006. Third lecture of the series
was delivered by Dr. Smt. Sumitra Kulkarni of Pune on 8th instant
on ‘Maratha Kalkhandatil Watan Sanstha’. Prof. N.G. Bhaware, former head of
the department of history, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University,
Aurangabad gave a talk on ‘Madhyayugin Maharashtratil Gramjivanachi
Vaishishthey’ on 10th February 2006. Last lecture of the series
was delivered by eminent local scholar Dr. Jaysingrao Powar on 11th
February 2006. He spoke on ‘Chh. Shivaji Maharajanchi concept of Swaraj’.
There was overwhelming response for the lecture series from the students,
teachers and the public at large. Prof. Arun Bhosale, Head – Dept. of
History, Prof. M.A. Lohar – Co-ordinator of the Centre and all their
colleagues successfully organized this programme.
