In
order to conserve the biodiversity and rare medicinal plants in Western Ghats,
Shivaji University received grant of Rs.20 lakh by District Planning
Committee. This declaration was made by Hon. Minister Shri. Harshwardhan Patil
in the inauguration function of the ‘Greenhouse’ prepared for conservation of
medicinal plants in Western Ghats. On this occasion Hon. Vice Chancellor said
that Western Ghats has rich biodiversity of medicinal plants and full stream
research based on this area is in progress in the University.
