Department of sociology Shivaji University has started Master of social work
MSW course from the academic year 2008-09.
As a
part of MSW curriculum the students are placed in various reputed NGOs and
industries like Narmada Bachao Andolan , Tarun Bharat Sang , MKSS Rajasthan
(Delhi) Snehalaya (Ahmadnager) etc.for Summer Placement Training and Blok
Placement Training (SPT&BPT) for 30to 45 days.
In
this context the program on SPT and BPT sharing was conducted on Sunday 29th
August 2010. The program was prsided by Head of Sociology department Shivaji
University Dr. S.A.Salunkhe. Dr. R.B.Patil and Dr.B.N.Kendre were chief guests
of this program. The faculty members of MSW, S.M.Kamble and Y.S.Kudale were
also present.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. S.A.Salunkhe said, “as we are social creatures we
have to work for the society and MSW course gives us an opportunity to work
for the society.” Dr. R.B.Patil said in his speech, “experience is the best
teacher of students because it teaches us new things each time. SPT&BPT gives
us an opportunity to understand social problems.” Dr. B.K. Kendre,Assistant
Professor,Sociology Department and the faculty of MSW also expressed thir
views.MSW students also shared their experience.
