Professor R.B.Patil, Department of Sociology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur
participated in the XVII World Congress of Sociology, at Gothenburg, Sweden
during 11-17 July, 2010.The main theme of the Congress was “Sociology on the
Move”. The World Congress of Sociology is organized once in four years by
International Sociological Association. 4981 delegates from104 countries
participated in the Congress.120 delegates were from India. There were 55
Research Committees, 5 Working Groups, 5 Thematic Groups through which papers
were presented. Prof. Patil presented two papers: One on Female Feticide in
Kolhapur District, India: An Overview in the Research Committee 41, Sociology
of Population, Second paper was on Civil Society and Water Governance: A Study
of Hiware Bazar Village in India in the Research Committee 24, Environment and
Society.
