Shivaji University is a proper place to study earthquake related activities,
earthquake detection and earthquake prediction that takes place around the
Koyna earthquake zone. An independent earthquake study centre would be set up
at Shivaji University, Kolhpaur. said Dr. Shailesh Nayak, Secretary, Ministry
of Earth Science Govt.of India. Dr. Nayak was speaking at the meeting of
various Heads of the Department at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Hon’ble
Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) N. J. Pawar was the chairman of the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Nayak said that various plans and research projects
are going on in different universities by this new ministry. Whatever
information and research is going on under this ministry would be useful for
tourism, sports, and especially for the farmers. The Ministry would provide
funds to the University for undertaking various research projects. The Heads
of The various departments of the University discussed the sources of about
the new possible research grants with Dr. Nayak. For the meeting Director
B.C.U.D, Prin.Dr. Arjun Rajage. The Finance & Accounts officer, Mr. B. S.
Patil, The controller of examinations, Dr. B. M. Hirdekar, and Dr. (Mrs.)
Vasanti Rasam, Dean of Social Science were present along with various heads of
the department.
