Prof. Y. R. Ma, High resolution Microscopy laboratory, Department of Physics,
National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan, along with his two postdoctoral students
visited Shivaji University, Kolhapur during 14th and 15th January 2010. Dr. P.
S. Patil organized this visit to Shivaji University. The objective of this
visit was to discuss with the University authorities about singing of
“Memorandum of Understanding” between SUK and National Dong Hwa University,
Taiwan. The meeting with hon’ble Vice Chancellor was organized on 14th January
2010. The faculty members, Prof. A. V. Rao, Prof. P. N. Bhosale, Prof. C. H.
Bhosale, Dr. P. S. Patil, Dr. V. R. Puri, Dr. V. J. Fulari, Dr. K. Y. Rajpure,
Dr. A. V. Moholkar, Dr. R. S. Vhatkar, Dr. Rupesh Devan attended the meeting.
The MOU will undertake several activities including student and faculty
exchange.
Being a renowned nanomaterial scientist, he discussed about the advances and
possible academic interactions with the faculty members of the Physics
Department of Shivaji University. He delivered lectures, on “1-Dimanesional
nanomaterials” and “Higher educational opportunities at National Dong Hwa
University”.
Prof. Y. R. Ma emphasized the importance of nanomaterials, which exhibit
variety of shapes and sizes ranging from zero-dimensional-to- one dimensional.
The properties of the materials become size dependent and thus acquire
outstanding importance, as far as nanodevices are concerned. Dr. P. S. Patil,
Thin Film Materials Laboratory, Department of Physics has already established
scientific interactions with this group and many experiments of mutual
interests, have been planned. The researchers from Shivaji University will get
benefit of using their state-of-the art facilities required for
characterization of these nanomaterials, free of cost.
