World Ozone Day is celebrated every year on 16th September to create awareness
amongst the people about Ozone Depletion. The Department of Environmental
Science also organized World Ozone Day celebration on 16 September, 2009.
Rangoli, Poster and Debate competitions were organized. Many students of M. Sc.,
D.E.P.M. and PGDISE participated enthusiastically in all competitions. The
programme was concluded by prize distribution at the hands of Dr. T. B. Jagtap,
Dean, Faculty of Science, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Prof. S. P. Govindwar,
Head, Department of Biochemistry, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Dr. Jagtap in
his speech narrated about over use of CFCs in the refrigerator and air
conditions and suggested to use eco-friendly ways to save our Mother Earth.
Welcome of guest was done by Mrs. A. S. Jadhav and introduction by Dr. P. D.
Raut and vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Deepali Biraje. The compilation of
programme was done by Ms. Rachana Ingawale. Programme was attended by faculty
members, research scholars, students and NGO,s from Kolhapur.
