NEWS IN BRIEF

  1.  The youth festival of Shivaji University, Kolhapur for the year 2005-2006 will be held in two stages.  In the first phase, the district level youth festivals will be held in all three districts of the University.  There will be 10 items in which students of the university and Colleges can take part.  They are as follows : A) Team events – 1) One act play, 2) Skit or farce, 3)Folk dance, 4) Patriotic songs (Group), 5)Mime, 6) Street Play, 7) Debating, 8) Quitz   A) Individual       1) Debating         2) Singing. The University level youth festival will be held after conclusion of the district level youth festivals.

  2. The department of history organized a lecture by Dr. Amar Adake on ‘Forts of Maharashtra’ on 19th October 2005.  Dr. Adake described in detail the nature of forts in the state with the help of slide show.  Dr. B. L. Patil – Director BCUD of the University presided over the function.  Dr. A.R. Bhosle, HOD of History introduced the guest and Dr. M.A. Lohar proposed vote of thanks.

  3. Department of Music organized a program of classical songs in the morning on 2nd of November 2005 to mark the Deepawali Celebrations.  The programme called ‘Deep Jyoti’ was organized on Bali Pratipada.  Dr. M. M. Salunkhe, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor was the Chief Guest.  Dr. B. Vaishampayana, HOD of Music was the Co-ordinator of the function.

  4. Dr. V. L. Dharurkar – Director, Academic staff college, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Marathawada University.  Aurangabad delivered a couple lectures on theories to communication before the students of Diploma in Mass Communication.  The programme was organized by Department of Adult and continuing Education of the University. 

  5. On Wednesday 26th October 2005 two books edited by Prof. Dr. J.F. Patil were released at the auspicious hands of Vice Chancellor Dr. M. M. Salunkhe.  The titles of books published were “History of Economic Thought” and “Banking and Financial Market” (Both in Marathi). Hon'ble vice-chancellor Prof. M. M. Salunkhe, while releasing the books emphasized that Professors from University departments should give leadership in the publication of such text books to their research students and colleagues in affiliated colleges.
