FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR’S DESK :

Dear Friends,

Last Month U.G.C.’s team visited the University to scrutinize our development proposals under 11th five year plan It is a matter of great satisfaction that the committee appreciated various reforms undertaken by the University in the different areas, especially the experiments the University had made in the examination system Shivaji University has been holding the examinations in time and also declaring the results in time.

There are numerous changes in the education system because rapid social and economic changes demand similar changes in the teaching and learning process because it is the responsibility of education system to provide trained man power to the society. Today’s world is a competitive world and we have to make extra efforts to prove ourselves worthy in the competition, The University is alive to the problem, hence it has introduced semester system in with continuous internal assessment and credit system. It is now responsibility of the teachers and students of the University to faithfully implement the scheme because if it is implemented in to students would be greatly benefited.

The University is trying to expand the activities of the Centre of Distance Education as its activities has evoked good response. We are starting many new courses in the faculty of Commerce and Management in distance mode. Distance Education is a useful method of providing education to these students who can’t take admission to the regular courses of the university. The Centre has prepared a large number of test books under the scheme of self instructional material; which may be useful to the general students as well.

The University has recently published a book entitled, “Shivaji University: Innovation and change” which graphically describes new initiatives and programs launched by the University during the past four years. It will be beneficial to the students and the teachers of the University to go through the book.
