Activities of Centre of Gandhian Studies

The
Centre of Gandhian Studies screened the Oscar wining film ‘Gandhi’ for the
students of at Humanities Auditorium on 1st August 2008. This was especially meant for the students of Social
Sciences. The film received huge response as it was rare opportunity for
them to see this classic film. Around 300 students watched the film. Dr.
Bharati Patil, Co-ordinator of the Centre, welcomed the students. Dr. B. S.
Mohite helped to organize the programme.

Dr. D. N. Banerjee, an
eminent Scholar of Gandhian studies and former director of Sardar Patel,
University visited Centre of Gandhian Studies on 5th August, 2008
and interacted with students. He appreciated the achievements and activities
of the centre. While interactiviting with students, he emphasized the
importance of Gandhian Philosophy of Symbiosis as against the philosophy of
survival of the fittest. Shri. Datta Shinde noted freedom fighter graced the
occasion. Around 100 students and faculty members participated in the
discourse. Dr. Smt. Bharati Patil welcomed the guest.
