Dear Friends,
This
is the first month of the year 2007 and I wish all the readers of shiv-sandesh
happy new year. The month of January is normally one of the busiest months in
the Indian Universities because several conferences, workshops, lectures and
symposia are organized in this month. As a result, a lot of academic
exchanges take place and our University is no exception to it.
In this month, we have signed
Memorandum of Understanding with Hanyang University of South Korea which is
situated at capital city of South Korea-Seoul. Initially, the agreement is
confined to departments of Physics and Chemistry of the University and
subsequently other departments of the University will also be involved. It is
hoped that this co-operation will help both Universities in reaching and
research in a big way. Our University’s collaboration with the Asia Institute
of Technology has yielded good dividends. Our collaboration with Sabargamuva
University, Srilanka has enabled us to start teaching programs in Sinhala and
Hindi in Kolhapur and Srilanka. I am sure that these international
collaborations will introduce the element of change in our research and
teaching activities and provide much needed incentive for innovation in these
areas. It will enable our students to get acquainted with research and
teaching of international standards and may engender in them much needed
competitiveness and the spirit of adventure. Hence, they should seize this
opportunity by both hands!
We have successfully
organized the national conference of English teachers and several other
conferences competently. The deliberations that had taken place in these
conferences, seminars and workshop will definitely enrich the academic content
of teaching and may open up new areas for research.
