“The University Foundation Day Celebrated”

            Shivaji University celebrated the University foundation day on 18th of November 2006.  On this occasion, Hon’ble Vice-chancellor Dr. M. M. Salunkhe unfurled the flag of the University and greeted all the people present on the occasion.  A senior academician and former Vice-chancellor of Amaravati University, Dr. K. G. Deshmukh was the Chief Guest of the function.

            In this function, following teachers and employees were felicitated for their meritorious services. 

  1. Dr. C. T. Pawar        – HOD of Geography.

  2. Dr. Baburao Gurav    – P. V. P. College, Tasgaon.

  3. Shri. Vitthal Bhosale – Suptd. Meeting Section.

  4. Mr. Uttam Baraskar   – Sr.Lab. Asst., Dept. of Chemistry.

  5. Mr. Shivaji More       – Garden Section.

Dr. S.V. Mudgal (S. K. Patil Kurundwad) and Dr. Pushpa Vaskar (Acharya Jawadekar B. Ed. College, Gargoti) received Principal P. G. Patil and Principal Sumatibai Patil awards for their meritorious service.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Vice-chancellor felicitated Dr. A. R. Bhosale (Professor and HOD of History) and Dr. M. Y. Khire (Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli) for securing the best teacher awards of the Government of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. G. Dushmukh said that due to globalization new areas and new opportunities were being made available to students and computer and information technology are the new sciences which should be avidly studied by the students.  He urged parents of the students not to impose their own ideas on the pupils and they should allow them freedom of choice.

In his Presidential address, Dr. M. M. Salunkhe described the steps taken by the University since last foundation day and said that ‘work on demand’ ws the major achievement of the University as it gave work to more than 300 students.  He informed the audience that the University had entered into MoUs many international institutions and starting of B. Tech.  and M. Tech. courses will be a major initiative by the University.  He solicited the support of all sections of the University community for new initiatives taken by the University.

On this occasion, a book titled “Dr. A. G. Pawar – Jeevan Ani Karya” written by Dr. Bhagyashri Jadhav of Shankarrao Mohite College, Rahimatpur was published at the hands of Dr. K. G. Deshmukh. 

Dr. A. A. Dange, Director – BCUD welcomed the guests and Dr. D. T. Shirke, Acting Registrar proposed hearty vote of thanks.  The program was largely attended by the University Community.
