I am very happy to note that you have chosen Shivaji University for your academic pursuits. I thank you all for the same. As a Controller of Examinations I want to share my views with you about the Examination. University Examination System is the continuous activity of the academic career. Teaching, learning and all other internal assessment activities conducted in colleges and in the departments of University are evaluated through the examination mechanism. As per the measurement and evaluation principles, examinations are essential part of educational activities. This is a cyclical process which begins from the filling up of the form and it ends with the award of degree. There are number of activities and procedures involved between these two ends.
All the activities related to the examinations are based on the provisions in the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 and Statutes, Ordinances, Rules, Regulations and Circulars there under. All these Statutes, Ordinances, Rules and Circulars are made available on the University website for your convenience and ready reference. From anywhere, any time you can access this information and at the same time for any query, doubt and clarification you can approach in person or telephonically the concerned officer in the Examination Section.
Students need certain services from the University related to the examinations that information is also available on website. Many a times there are queries related to discrepancies in the mark list and degrees. This University conducts every year more than 400 examinations covering more than 2 lakh students and most of the operations and procedures are computerised. Hence, there is a possibility of technical error or human error or any discrepancies at any level. However, if you approach proper person in proper time, your query will be solved and clarification will be provided as per the provisions in the Statute, Ordinances, Rules etc.
Facing examination is an adventure and it is a joy also, if you are well prepared. When the result is in your hand you should ask yourself certain questions.
- Have I gone through the prescribed syllabus?
- Have I attended all the lectures in the college?
- Have I completed all the projects and term work and internal work prescribed in the syllabus?
- Have I referred original text books along with the reference books?
- Have I referred earlier question papers and have I prepared regularly through out the year?
If your answers to all these questions are Yes then definitely you are supposed to be good achiever scoring more than 70% marks. If answers to these questions are No No then you may come down even to fail, just pass or second class. It is as simple as that.
Examinations and evaluation is meant for testing the abilities and capacities related to your intelligence. It is accepted by all that your memory, imaginations, critical thinking, intellectual thinking, comprehending power, written and oral communication all these are very important to become successful in any given field and examination is a mechanism to test all these. So a student must always be willing to face the examination with very positive attitude.
The globalized world today is highly competitive. To improve your career or for any, business you want run you have to compete. This competitive spirit must be developed among the students, they must be oriented towards excellence and merit. Hence, examinations are very very important in the academic career of a student. How successfully you have faced all these examinations decide how successfully you face the examinations in life.
